Maisto is one of the largest manufactures of diecast model cars in the world.
Maisto produce a huge range of cars varying from the super cars like the Lamborghini Gallardo to the latest Concept SUV Hummer, all in variety scales from1:43 to 1:18.
In 2006 Maisto consolidated its place in the market by taking over the company Bburago that started the 1:18 scale model car craze. Maisto revamped some of Bburago’s models and used them to increase its already large range.
Maisto models are known to represent excellent value for money providing good quality detailed models at a very reasonable price but this year they decided to break the mould by producing the super expensive Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 in association with Swarovski. This limited edition model is not strong on detail but it is covered with 7,660 crystallized Swarovski.elements turning it into a stunning work of art. This sort of bling doesn’t come cheap and this Maisto model has the hefty price tag of £1,500.
If you like your models with added shine but can’t quite stretch to the price of the Maisto Swarovski Lamborghini the you should check out Maisto AllStars Series Custom Shop range. These models have been pimped to the max with added chrome, custom paint jobs, lowered suspension and cool interiors.
If you prefer a more subtle look to your diecast cars then Maisto produce the Premiere Edition range. These highly detailed models come with many features including opening doors and bonnets, full functioning steering and working suspension.
Alongside the Maisto Premiere range is the Special Edition Series of equally good quality and having many of the same features. These cars also come mounted on a plinth
This year Maisto are releasing in conjunction with Electronic Arts, replicas of the cars featured in the video game Need for Speed Undercover. These models will come with a code to unlock new cars on the game. This is just another great innovative idea from the guys at Maisto.
