Norev diecast model cars was founded Just after the Second World War the Veron brothers started up company manufacturing diecast cars in France. Norev was actually an anagram of their family name Veron. Their first model cars were made of pressed steel with plastic interiors and the subject mainly consisted of popular French cars of the time. In 1953 Norev produced their first plastic cars in 1/43rd scale and in 1971 started producing zinc alloy models. In the early 1970’s Norev began to produce die cast model formula 1 and Le Man’s cars. They also sponsored drivers like Jacques Lafitte, Jimmy Mieusset and Henri Pescarolo. Norev concentrated on manufacturing 1/43rd scale die cast cars up until 2005 when their first 1/18th models came out.
Norev make a huge range of die cast models from cars to caravans, trucks, buses, motorbikes and figurines. The top end of Norev’s 1/43rd and 1/18th die cast cars rival Minichamps and Hot wheels Elite series but at a lower price. The paintwork and fine details are exquisite on Norev models though their range in the 1/18th scale is a little limited and sometimes hard to get hold of.
Porsche 1/18th die cast collectors have been spoiled with a wide range of different models recently and obviously Citroen Models heavily feature in Norev’s range as they are a French company. Keen racing fans will be delighted with Norev’s DTM and Le Mans Audi’s and the Renault F1 cars. The street Racer series of cars will excite younger Norev die cast collectors with the subjects and snazzy paint jobs. Any one who is interested in historical models have not been left out with a smattering of early Renault, Peugeot, Citroen and Simca die cast models.
The Norev 1/43rd scale range is far more comprehensive covering Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, BMW, Fiat, Jaguar, Mercedes, Subaru and Volkswagen to name a few. Like the 1/18th scale die cast models the quality of the Norev range is excellent and well presented in a lexan topped display box, ideal for keeping the dust of your collection.
